Mad Monks 2017 Results are in

Mad Monks 2017 Judging is Complete

All the beers entered in Mad Monks 2017 have been received, sorted, judged by a panel, and ranked. The full list of results are available from Reggie.  I'll be scanning scoresheets this week, it will take a bit to get through them all, but I'll send out an email when they're all up.

Until then, congratulations to our Winners and a huge thank you for everyone that volunteered and participated this year.

American Homebrewers Association

Now Open: National Homebrew Competition Application Period
Window to Apply: January 30 – February 5

The 2017 National Homebrew Competition application period is open January 30 to February 5! The time or date you submit an application has no influence on acceptance of entries into the competition.

Not a member? Join or renew here.

Though the competition has limited capacity and is more popular than ever (3,400 entrants last year!), we expect that nearly everyone who wants to enter will be able to do so. To maximize your chances on entering the competition, select multiple judge locations when you apply.

Notes on applying:
All applicants who register will receive a confirmation email of application; this is NOT a confirmation of actual entry to the National Homebrew Competition. Please verify the information on the email. You may edit your application up through February 5.

You must be subscribed to our emails to ensure you receive important information and upcoming dates & deadlines.
All applicants will hear from us between February 8 and February 15 with an alert indicating whether or not their entries have been accepted into the competition. Continually check email over this period as you have 72 hours to pay for your entries!

A few more notes:
Registration is open to AHA members only. If you are not an AHA member or if your membership has expired and you want to compete, join today!
Read and review the Rules & Regulations.
Check out the competition's website and the FAQ page for more general information.

DeLand Craft Beer Festival - February 11th, 2017

DeLand Craft Beer Festival

The time has come for the 8th annual DeLand Craft Beer Festival and Volusia Beer Week. If you haven't already made your plans, now is the time!

When: February 11, 2017, 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Where: Historic Downtown DeLand, Indiana Ave

This year’s DeLand Craft Beer Festival will be held in a new and larger location. Still in the heart of Downtown DeLand, the new Indiana Avenue location will give us a much larger footprint so our vendors and guests won’t be as crowded as last year!

Mad Monks 2017 Judging

Mad Monks 2017 Judging

Belgian Beer Enthusiasts, and Beer Judges!

The 2017 Mad Monks Mashup is looking for experienced and BJCP Certified Beer judges for this weekend! Although we're not looking at a huge number of entries, the Belgian theme always draws some extraordinary beers. We'd like to make sure to give them the judging and feedback they deserve.

I'd like to make a special plea for any BJCP/Cicerone/Pro certified judges. Each judging pair really needs to have a certified judge. That said, if you aren't, we still very much have a need for you to help too.

It definitely helps out if you register ahead at:

February 4th Beer Judging, 11am to 6pm, Debary FL.
Additionally, you can contact me directly at:

Please pass this along to anyone who might have an interesting in joining us as a judge or a steward! We'd be so grateful for the help.
