A gathering place for fans of Zymurgy in Volusia and other neighbouring counties!

The group met for the kick-off meeting on January 25, 2009 at ABBEY in Deland. The Volusia County Home Brewers Guild is comprised of individuals dedicated to the fine art and science of making and drinking beer, wine and mead. The goal of the club is to get members involved in handcrafting these things. The following list is provided to familiarize new and established VCHBG members with the club activities that are held throughout the year and as a general oversight of club activities.

Club members are encouraged to participate in local and national AHA and BJCP sanctioned Homebrew competitions.

VCHBG, with assistance from other Florida homebrew clubs, facilitates training for members to broaden their knowledge of beers, essential elements of brewing, beer styles of the world, beer tasting and fault identification. Members may take the Beer Judge Certification Program BJCP) classes and test on a pre-arranged basis with other Florida clubs. There may be a few charged for the study materials and the taking of any exams.

Throughout the year there are homebrew events. Examples include general gatherings and brewing sessions, the Holiday party and various other parties at member's homes. These events fun events with many of the homebrewers bringing their latest homebrews to sample.

Monthly our members hold beer, wine and mead related presentations at our general meetings so that the club make sample and learn about the many different beer, wine and mead styles. Examples include sampling beers at local pubs or tastings conducted at club events or presentations related to ingredients or the brewing process.

Our members are very talented brewers and beer, wine and mead and will always be available to assist you and answer any brewing questions.
